Leeds United Women ace Paige Williams provides injury update on social media as footage shared
Paige Williams has taken “big steps” on her road to recovery from a long-term injury lay-off as she is now back running on a treadmill.
The winger revealed last September that she had torn her anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) and had a grade 2 tear in her medial collateral ligament (MCL).
Williams is still some way off returning to the field, but she is at least now starting to see the rewards of her rehabilitation programme up to this point.
“First run back in 6 months,” she posted on her personal Twitter page [12 March]. “Beyond grateful to the support I have around me and at the club. Big steps in the right direction.”
Paige Williams slowly closing in on Leeds United Women return
Anyone who has endured an ACL or MCL injury, let alone both, will know just how arduous the journey back to the top can be.
From not being able to walk unaided to getting back on the field in a competitive match – it takes an awful lot of mental strength and willpower.
Williams has shared regular updates on social media to keep supporters in the loop with regards to her comeback.
These type of injuries can take between nine and 12 months to recover from, so a return in time for next season will be the aim.
As the saying goes, it’s not about how hard you’re hit; it’s about how you can get hit and keep moving forward.
Williams will return from the injury raring to go and that can only be good news for Leeds United Women going forward.
