Leeds United Women given ‘boost’ after Elland Road scenes with Daniel Farke

Simon Wood has done an excellent job with Leeds United Women this season, although promotion proved to be a step too far.

With just one promotion spot in the league, the winners have to be on top of their game throughout the whole campaign.

However, Leeds’ dip in form after the winter break proved to be a decisive point in the campaign.

Wood’s side have been inconsistent of late, with three wins and two losses in their last five, showing how getting out of a rhythm can have its impacts on the field.

Nevertheless, a 4-1 thrashing of third-place Chorley last time out certainly reminded the West Yorkshire outfit that they can compete with the top sides in the division.

Leeds United have had a successful season

It’s not just the women’s side who have been competing at the top of the table this term, with Daniel Farke’s men securing promotion to the Premier League on Monday (21 April).

The men also saw their form drop earlier in the campaign, but were able to get back into a run at the right time and regain their position at the top.

The 49ers have backed Farke and promotion back to the top-flight did not come at the first time of asking but rather, took a series of progression.

With Wood’s side also having also had an excellent term, it speaks volumes about the positivity at Leeds this season and the boss should be taking motivation from this.

If Farke’s side were able to achieve their aims, surely Wood will be using it as a boost to tell his side that they’re next up.

Wood to push Leeds up next season

It’s proved to be a difficult league, and with so much riding on that one place at the top of the table, it’s not an easy task.

However, Wood will be pleased with the progress of his team this term and must be excited about how much further his side can go next season.

With the likes of Amy Woodruff and Kath Smith in White, the boss has some solid foundations to build the side around.

Additions will be needed in order to boost the squad to the next level but with the success in West Yorkshire currently, this could help to boost interest in a move.

There is plenty to be excited about at Leeds, and success for Wood’s side is surely next on the checklist.
