Amy Woodruff shares what she loves about Leeds United Women squad
Amy Woodruff loves the competition for places at Leeds United Women and says the quality among the ranks is keeping the standards of the squad high.
The Whites are having an excellent season so far and find themselves sitting third in the Women’s National League Division One, three points behind Cheadle Town at the top.
Simon Wood’s side prepare to face Huddersfield Town on Sunday (26 January) which is sure to be a big game with the Terriers sitting fifth in the table.
However, Woodruff has backed Leeds’ ability to perform as she said to Leeds United’s official website (24 January): “It is good because as much as we are all a really close bunch, we equally have the same respect for each other to know that who we are competing with is a quality player.
“It keeps me pushing on to keep my shirt, keep working hard and vice versa for every position.
“I am quite an adaptable player that can play in different positions and I know I have got the fitness in my legs to keep running and running.
“In every position now we have got a few options and the girls know that we can’t switch off, not for a minute, because there is a chance of losing your shirt.
“We have got so much belief in each other and a willingness to work hard for each other.”
Leeds United need three points against Huddersfield Town
The Whites are looking in terrific form this term and they will be focused on clicking into full gear for a promotion push in the second half of the campaign.
Since coming back from the Christmas break, the Whites have lost 1-0 against Middlesbrough, the side fourth in the league between United and their opponents on Sunday.
As Woodruff says, one of the reasons they are succeeding is because of the squad depth they have which allows cover when players are unavailable and also keeps the squad on their toes.

The players know that if they don’t perform to the expected standards, Wood will not hesitate to switch them out of the side with plenty of teammates doing the work to get their call-up to the first team.
With only three points separating them from the top spot, the West Yorkshire outfit need to start getting results under their belts again as they look towards promotion at the end of the campaign.
