Yanis Begraoui is what Leeds United have been missing as summer deal lined up

Yanis Begraoui is a target for Leeds United this summer.

Working on the assumption that Leeds can stay in the Premier League, there are several areas of the squad that will need to be looked at when recruitment plans are drawn up.

Signing a new goalkeeper will be one of the first priorities, as will signing another striker to compete with Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

Begraoui, having played the majority of his career as a striker, would satisfy the latter, with 18 goals already this season for Estoril.

However, if Leeds move for Begraoui this summer, Daniel Farke may have another use for him.

Yanis Begraoui is the type of player Daniel Farke will love

Not only has he showcased his ability to score goals over the last two seasons, but Begraoui has also demonstrated his versatility.

While most of his appearances have been as the number nine, the Moroccan has played across various other attacking roles, including as a 10.

And for Farke, that would be a huge green flag given his willingness to rotate players in different positions for the balance of his team.

On top of that, Begraoui is statistically one of the hardest-working strikers in Portugal, having made 47 defensive contributions, which places him among the top 5.3 per cent of forwards.

That includes an average of 2.39 recoveries per game, which is crucial when defending against transitional play.

Begraoui also boasts a respectable level of creativity, which would only come more to fruition in Farke’s current system.

How likely are Leeds to sign Begraoui?

As revealed by MOT Leeds News, Begraoui will have Leeds scouts in attendance when he faces Porto this weekend.

Should he impress against a European-level side, then that interest is only likely to grow.

However, whether or not the Whites make a move will largely depend on their league status, as well as their course of action for the new campaign.

Begraoui would fit the current system, but if Farke were to change it this summer, then the need for a versatile forward would be reduced.

With that said, it is one to keep an eye on given how much he has impressed in Portugal this season.
