Wilfried Gnonto contract latest: Update on talks, exit speculation and what he earns

Wilfried Gnonto’s future at Leeds United is under serious doubt as the summer transfer window approaches.

The Italian winger has made 20 appearances in all competitions for the Whites this season, but 13 of them have come from the substitutes’ bench.

He has started just four times in the Premier League, showing that Daniel Farke does not fully trust him to make an impact in the top-flight.

Leeds could cut their losses on Gnonto, and let him leave Elland Road when the market reopens, if the situation continues.

What is Gnonto’s contract situation at Leeds?

Gnonto signed a new four-year contract with Leeds in August 2024, which secured his future until 2028 at the latest.

There is understood to be no release clause included in the deal, meaning an exit would not come easy for the 22-year-old.

Therefore, the LS11 side have all the leverage when it comes to a potential exit for the Italy Under-21 international star, and there is no need for fresh talks as he will still have two years left in the summer.

Who has been linked with a move for Gnonto?

A report from TEAMtalk on 14 March claimed that Gnonto’s future in Yorkshire is uncertain, but also insisted that Farke values him.

Fiorentina were looking at the Whites ace before the winter transfer window, but did not make a move in the end.

AC Milan, Inter Milan and Juventus also hold an interest in the Peacocks star, according to reports.

What does Gnonto earn at Leeds?

Gnonto is understood to earn approximately £40,000-per-week in Yorkshire after signing the extension in 2024.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin is supposed to be Farke’s side’s highest earner, on a figure of around £100,000-per-week.

There is no way that Gnonto could ask for anything near that, given his limited impact at the top level, but he would still likely want a wage increase.

Has Gnonto spoke about the situation?

So far, there have no public quotes from Gnonto about his lack of playing time, but surely he cannot be happy about hardly starting in this campaign.

If it continues in the way that it is going currently, then he must seek an exit for the sake of his career, and selling him for a decent fee would also make sense for the club.
