Pascal Struijk’s contract situation must be Leeds United‘s latest priority amid the interest from Premier League rivals.

The Dutch defender has been a key part of Daniel Farke‘s side run to the Premier League and their attempts to stay in the division.

His performances have not gone unnoticed, with the likes of Tottenham, Newcastle United, and Aston Villa reportedly interested in making a move for the Elland Road star.

However, the 49ers Enterprises must resist any approaches and ensure that the 26-year-old signs fresh terms to stay in Yorkshire.

Struijk is far too valuable to Leeds, and they should not sanction a sale, regardless of the price being offered.

What is Struijk’s current contract situation at Leeds

Struijk signed a five-year extension at Leeds in 2022, which is set to run out in the summer of 2027.

That means that he will only have a year left on his deal when the summer transfer market comes around, which puts the Whites in a precarious position.

They will not be able to demand a decent fee for their star man, and they run the risk of him leaving on a free when his terms expire.

Why a new contract makes sense for all parties

Either way, whether he sticks around or is sold, it benefits the Peacocks to secure him to a new contract.

They have him locked down, and a cornerstone for Farke’s side remains in LS11 for the foreseeable future or they can command a significantly higher fee if they do sell him.

It is a no-brainer for the ownership, as no matter what happens, it ensures that they are in the best possible position.

They can’t sell him to the Premier League rivals who are circling, and they definitely can’t let him join one of those teams for nothing, so a deal that benefits both parties is a must.

The longer they leave it, the less chance of Struijk signing on, because he will not feel that he is valued by the club that he has given so much to in the past couple of seasons.

The logical move for the Whites hierarchy is to offer him a bumper new deal, as soon as possible.
