Pascal Struijk will be a free agent in 2027 if Leeds United don’t tie him down to a new contract.

Ethan Amapdu was set to hold talks at Elland Road over a new deal last week and the Dutch centre-back should now be next in line.

The defender has been a key player for Daniel Farke this season, starting 32 Premier League games, and his being left-footed also makes him a unique profile at the Whites.

With the German manager looking to keep hold of his best players ahead of the 2026-27 campaign, it’s a no-brainer for the West Yorkshire outfit to secure the 26-year-old’s future.

Farke clearly needs Struijk at the Peacocks to fulfil his ambitions in LS11 and 49ers Enterprises have work to do regarding fresh terms for him.

Farke moved to a three-at-the-back midway through the season, placing greater emphasis on Leeds’ defensive personnel.

The Whites have some quality options at centre-back, but if the German manager continues to play the current system, they will need more depth in defence.

Struijk has formed an impressive trio with Joe Rodon and Jaka Bijol at the West Yorkshire outfit and they will arguably only get better with more time together.

Sebastiaan Bornauw and James Justin have deputised at centre-back at times, but the Dutch defender’s absence is always felt at Elland Road.

If Leeds are unable to convince Struijk to sign a new contract, the 49ers will surely think about selling him in the summer.

It would make sense for the Whites to cash in on the centre-back in the coming months if they risk losing him for free in a year’s time.

The Dutchman’s situation in LS11 is worth watching closely as the West Yorkshire outfit have a massive transfer window coming up.

While the Elland Road faithful want to see the American owners make a significant investment to strengthen the Peacocks’ squad, they may have to wave goodbye to a fan favourite if Struijk doesn’t put pen to paper soon.
