Pascal Struijk may have played final Leeds United game as Daniel Farke confirms unwanted news

Pascal Struijk looks likely to have played his final game for Leeds United this season after Daniel Farke‘s team news update, and that could be the end of his time at Elland Road.

The Whites play Brighton this weekend and Farke confirmed that Struijk is yet to train and is a big doubt for the match.

The Dutchman has suffered a hip injury, with some suggestions even to say that he’s going to have to undergo surgery, though that has yet to be confirmed.

Leeds are aware of interest in the centre-back, and considering he looks to have played his final game of the season, it may mean that fans will never be able to see him play at Elland Road again.

Struijk is said to be valued at £30million, as the 49ers also know the importance of raising funds this summer due to financial constraints.

Who is interested in signing Struijk?

Feyenoord have been linked with Struijk, among other clubs that are said to be interested in signing the defender.

The 26-year-old has been in LS11 for over eight years, racking up 197 appearances in that time, and is now a regular starter in the Premier League.

Struijk in PL

Struijk has still split the opinion of some fans, but it would be fair to say that it could be a risk in selling someone who is clearly capable of playing in the top-flight.

The former Ajax star has been used as an example of a player whom the 49ers could sell to ease PSR restrictions, which have haunted the Whites in recent years.

If Leeds were able to bank £30m for Struijk, some would argue it to be a good deal, so long as he was replaced adequately.

However, as things stand, it looks as though the defender may have played his final game for Leeds.

This is why Struijk decision will be made this summer, one way or another

Struijk’s contract will expire next summer, meaning the upcoming transfer window will see the player enter his final 12 months at Elland Road.

If Leeds wanted to sell the centre-half, this summer would be their chance to maximise profits, as selling him in the winter would be clutching at straws.

Either way, Leeds will need to decide on whether to put him up for sale or offer him a new contract, as letting him leave for nothing would be criminal.
