Paraag Marathe soft launches summer window of misery in controversial Leeds United message
Paraag Marathe has opened up to Leeds United fans on this season as a whole and what to expect moving forward, and it’s rather uninspiring.
The Whites managed to secure their Premier League status weeks before the final day of the season, and though the campaign ended in defeat, it’s been something special to watch.
Daniel Farke is set to sit down with Marathe and the 49ers soon regarding a new deal, but regardless of what happens with the former Norwich City boss, the fact is that Leeds have another job to do in the top flight next campaign.
Leeds released a message on their official website this Monday, with Marathe expressing his thoughts and overall for how the season has panned out, much like any other Whites fan.
However, Marathe basically admitted that Leeds will struggle in the summer transfer window, as his words seemed structured to get fans ready for what could be an underwhelming season.

Paraag Marathe says Leeds can’t operate how they wish for another two seasons
Leeds’ summer business last season was genius, as despite the fact that over £100million was spent, some of the free transfers were the most crucial additions.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin has been a revelation for the Whites, while Lukas Nmecha’s contribution cannot go under the radar either.
| Player | Fee |
| Dominic Calvert-Lewin | Free transfer |
| Lukas Nemcha | Free transfer |
| Sean Longstaff | £15m |
| Anton Stach | £17.4m |
| James Justin | £10m |
| Sebastiaan Bornauw | £5.1m |
| Jaka Bijol | £18.5m |
| Gabriel Gudmundsson | £10m |
| Lucas Perri | £16m |
| Noah Okafor | £18m |
In the message, Marathe has said: “I said last year that the road ahead would not be easy – that is still true. History shows that the second season in the Premier League can be just as, if not more, challenging as the first.
“We remain ambitious but measured and deliberate, understanding that it will take three long-fought seasons before we can truly operate like an established Premier League side.
The Leeds chief admitted that the change to the Squad Cost Ratio will change the Whites’ approach for the summer window.
He then went on to explain why the club will have to be disciplined with signings to comply with regulations, and though that’s not his fault, he is basically hoping to let Leeds supporters know about what is to come.

If January was anything to go by, then the Whites may as well not even bother signing anyone this summer.
Some Leeds supporters may see the good in this message and think he is being transparent, which he is, but it’s controversial, with others not too pleased about it.
Leeds could rake in £50m sales this summer; here’s how
The 49ers bid over £30million to try to land Jorgen Strand Larsen last winter, but it was a prime example of what’s in store for the Whites, should they try to sign players that other Premier League clubs are interested in.
Regardless, Marathe and Co. showed that they had another chunk of money up their sleeves, so the excuse that sales are needed first this summer will not be tolerated.
However, the potential exits of Joel Piroe, Wilfried Gnonto, Dan James, and other players who could be released will free up fees and wages to be spent this summer.
Add to the fact that offers may come in for Pascal Struijk, Marathe could pocket £50m in player sales.
It will be an interesting summer to say the least, but this soft-launching misery approach could come back to bite if no ambition is shown.
