Lukas Nmecha’s future at Leeds United could be in limbo as Haris Tabakovic was linked with an Elland Road move.

Daniel Farke is understood to be looking at attacking reinforcements, and the Bosnian forward could fit the bill.

A report from German outfit RP Online, claims that Tabakovic could be available for £4.3million, with the Whites interested in bringing him to LS11.

That could spell danger for Nmecha, who has struggled to stay fit recently, and his future is not exactly secure in Yorkshire.

Reports in February claimed that Nmecha was not among the players that Adam Underwood was considering offering a new contract.

Leeds could end up not needing the German, who has notched seven goals and three assists in 30 matches in all competitions.

Why will Nmecha be sweating amid Leeds’ interest in Tabakovic?

Nmecha’s contract situation at Leeds is what makes it so interesting, as he only signed a two-year deal when he joined the club.

He is set to be with the Peacocks until the summer of 2027, and if they sign Tabakovic, that may leave him vulnerable.

The 31-year-old has notched 13 goals and three assists in 31 matches so far this season, which could leave the former Wolfsburg man sweating on his future.

Tabakovic would be an upgrade on Nmecha, the evidence from their time in the Bundesliga suggests that would be the case.

The current Leeds man notched 16 goals and three assists in 69 matches in Germany’s top-flight, while the potential new Whites man has notched 14 goals and the same amount of assists in just 50 games in the division.

That implies that he is more clinical in front of the goal and can provide the same for his teammates, which could lead Farke to conclude that he is the better option.

It could be curtains for the 27-year-old if the Peacocks decide to pull the trigger on a move for the 10-cap international as talk gathers pace surrounding the interest in his services.

It remains to be seen whether a move is made for the 6’5 hitman, but if the Whites cannot pass up on the bargain opportunity, Nmecha will be very worried.
