Leeds United told to rethink Jack Harrison transfer plan as Fabio Paratici gets ruthless

Leeds United may be able to sell Jack Harrison to Fiorentina, but only if the Premier League side lower their buy option price tag.

That is according to Sport Italia contributor Lorenzo Lepore, who exclusively told MOT Leeds News that Fiorentina are unlikely to take up the offer to buy him for £6million this summer.

After being a fan favourite for years at Elland Road, Harrison no longer curries favour with Leeds fans after opting against playing for them in the Championship and then failing to impress when called upon this term.

Despite Daniel Farke praising the 29-year-old’s commitment and professionalism, Harrison was shipped out on loan to Fiorentina in January.

The former Everton loanee has played 13 times for the Italian team but hasn’t set the world alight as they aim to stave off relegation to Serie B. Leeds had hoped Fiorentina would take up the £6m buy option but for now, that seems unlikely.

Jack Harrison set to return to Leeds?

In his 13 Fiorentina outings this season, Harrison has bagged just one assist to date. He has started four of his eight Serie A appearances, but he has come off the bench in his last two league matches.

Harrison has played 10 times as a right winger, which is where he bagged his one assist, with his other three games coming as a left winger, a left midfielder, and a right midfielder.

Jack Harrison’s goal contributionsStatistics
Leeds (2018-present)219 games, 34 goals, 32 assists
Everton (2023-2025)73 games, five goals, four assists

According to Sofascore, he has created zero big chances, his dribble success is down at 35 per cent, he has won 34 per cent of his total duels, and he has lost possession 10.8 times per game on average.

Conversely, Harrison is averaging 1.3 ball recoveries per match, and his passing accuracy is at 87 per cent. And while Lepore thinks he is a hard-working player, there isn’t enough end product from the winger.

The owner of Fiorentina website Space Viola said: “I like him. He’s not a super player, but he’s clever, tactical, and a good squad player to have, rather than a starter. He has some useful qualities, including his pressing ability.

“At the start, some Fiorentina fans were wary about Leeds supporters not being so complimentary about Harrison. The general feeling is okay about him but I am not sure about them signing him permanently.

“They need a budget to bring in a lot of new players, and I am not sure they will spend €7m (£6m) on him.

“He is a good player but there are a lot of things he could improve, such as his shooting, decision-making in the final third, and his offensive actions.

“If they keep him, it will be because they were able to get him for a lower fee.”

Sporting director Fabio Paratici hasn’t been at Fiorentina for long but already it seems he is leaving little room for sentiment with Harrison.

Leeds have Harrison problem

While Leeds fans will be glad to be shot of Harrison, it seems they may have to wait for another suitor to take him off their hands.

Leeds supporters weren’t best pleased when Harrison spent two seasons on loan at Everton in the Premier League, rather than trying to help the Whites out of the Championship.

He was used sparingly this season, with his FA Cup performance against Championship side Derby County a real low point.

But there are always two sides to a story and Harrison will not have forgotten when Leeds tried to sell him to Leicester City in January 2023, before pulling the plug on the move at the 11th hour.

Harrison still has more than two years left on his Leeds deal but expect the Yorkshire team to part ways well before then.
