Leeds United ready to pounce on Wolves relegation as Santiago Bueno stance made clear
Leeds United have seemingly set their sights on Wolves defender Santiago Bueno ahead of the summer transfer window.
Bueno has featured 25 times for Wolves in the Premier League this season and a further five times in other competitions.
The Uruguay international has also been used regularly for his country this term and has eight caps at senior level overall.
But with Bueno heading for the Championship following Wolves’ relegation, a number of teams – Leeds included – could be set to pounce.
While Leeds’ own Premier League survival is not officially secured just yet, there is already one eye on the summer transfer window at Elland Road.

Santiago Bueno on Leeds’ agenda – but is he a good fit?
Leeds are slowly starting to be linked with more and more players as the days tick down towards the window opening.
As per Sport Witness on Monday afternoon, Bueno is one of those on Leeds’ agenda for the summer.
| Santiago Bueno | 2025-26 PL stats |
| Games (starts) | 25 (24) |
| Average mins per gam | 88 |
| Goals/assists | 2/1 |
| Passing accuracy | 87% |
| Tackles per game | 2 |
| Balls recovered per game | 2.4 |
However, Leeds face competition from fellow top-flight sides West Ham United – should they stay up – Crystal Palace and Brentford.
The report adds that Bueno wants to quit Wolves rather than playing in the Championship next season.
All four of the aforementioned teams are said to have already made contact with the centre-back’s representatives.
Bueno has played 66 times in the Premier League for Wolves over the past few seasons and has been one of their better performers.
He averages two tackles per game, 0.9 interceptions and 0.9 fouls. For a bit of context, Jaka Bijol have averaged 1.1, 1.1 and 0.7 respectively in those metrics.
Bueno ranks particularly highly for clearances, with 3.9 per game, while he has also chipped in with two goals and an assist in an attacking sense.

The Uruguayan clearly ticks plenty of boxes, then, and would appear to be a good option for Daniel Farke to slot into his back five next season.
Could Bueno interest spell end for Joe Rodon?
There is no question that Joe Rodon has dropped off of late and he is now considered a back-up player.
That is not to say Leeds will want to get rid, but football is all about progressing and a second season of Premier League football would allow the Whites to push on.
Farke will want to best players available, and Bueno is very much an attainable target given Wolves are heading for the second tier.

Changes will happen over the summer, which will mean the end for many fan favourites – Rodon potentially among them.
For now, though, Farke still has some small work to do to ensure Leeds are definitely still in the Premier League come the time the window opens for business.
