Leeds United questions needed as Ermedin Demirovic update emerges
Leeds United have been linked with a move to sign Stuttgart striker Ermedin Demirovic.
The Whites can revel in the success of the current campaign for a while longer, but attention will need to quickly turn to the summer transfer window.
Several areas of the squad are in need of improvement if they are to progress in the Premier League, with a key focus on bolstering the attacking options at Daniel Farke’s disposal.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Noah Okafor have carried their attacking output this season, with 22 goals between them.
And while Leeds’ links to Demirovic suggest that they could add another player to lighten the load, his deeper stats raise a more important question.

What would Ermedin Demirovic bring to Leeds?
Based on his record in Germany, goals, and a fair number of them.
Demirovic has scored 32 times in 87 appearances for Stuttgart, including 15 this season, having managed 23 in 66 for Augsburg prior to his move.
| Stat | Demirovic |
| Appearances | 158 |
| Goals | 45 |
| Assists | 31 |
From that criteria, it looks as though the links make sense, though the lack of quality in other areas of his game suggests otherwise.
The 28-year-old has won just 35.2 per cent of his aerial duels in the league this season, which places him among the bottom 29.5 per cent of strikers in the Bundesliga.

His seven completed dribbles see him rank marginally above average, though still low enough to say that it is not a strength in his game.
In all honesty, he’s a very similar profile to Calvert-Lewin, which would make little sense for Leeds to pursue this summer.
What do Leeds need to complement Calvert-Lewin?
The Englishman will almost certainly be the number one striker next season at Elland Road, barring injury, so options after him need to be different.
Leeds need a striker who can get in behind defenders and give them something different to think about, which has been lacking this season.
It’s clear that Demirovic lacks the traits to fulfil that role, and has done throughout his career, making it seem like a deal that they should pass up on without too many questions.
