Leeds United plan for inevitable Joel Piroe exit with bargain Haris Tabakovic deal

Leeds United could potentially need to replace Joel Piroe in the upcoming transfer window.

The 26-year-old has lost his place in the Whites’ starting lineup this season, leading to speculation around his future in recent months.

It wouldn’t be surprising to see the Suriname international push for an exit in the summer and look for pastures new as Daniel Farke clearly doesn’t rate him anymore.

Haris Tabakovis has emerged as a target at Elland Road, and RP Online reported on 12 April that the Bosnia and Herzegovina international, who is at Borussia Monchengladbach on loan from TSG Hoffenheim, could be available for £4.3million in the coming months.

Paraag Marathe should back Farke at the end of the season if the West Yorkshire outfit survive relegation and fans expect heavy investment in the squad to make further progress in the English top flight.

Joel Piroe must be raging after what’s happened at Leeds United

After leading Leeds to the Championship title as the league’s top scorer last season, Piroe must have had ambitions of proving himself in the Premier League.

The former Swansea ace was handed a few opportunities at the start of the current campaign but quickly lost his place to Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

Lukas Nmecha has also been ahead of the Suriname international in the pecking order, with Farke playing the likes of Noah Okafor and Brenden Aaronson in the starting lineup when his two preferred strikers aren’t available.

Piroe hasn’t been given a chance to show he can be a reliable attacker for the West Yorkshire outfit in the English top flight, and he arguably has every right to be frustrated by his situation, with the Tabakovic links clearly part of their plan to possibly address the inevitable departure from their frontline.

Speaking to the media earlier this season, the German manager said, “For me, he’s the best finisher I’ve ever worked with and there’s been some good finishers. If you want to have a player with the ball in front of his feet 20 yards out, then I would always go for Joel Piroe because he’s an unbelievable finisher and in these terms, really world-class.”

Daniel Farke criticism valid at Elland Road

Farke has been stubborn with his tactics and ideas since joining Leeds, but he did make a change midway through the season that saw them pick up pace in the league.

The German manager has turned things around in LS11, but his over-reliance on some players could possibly have repercussions at the Whites.

Aaronson hasn’t been at his best for several games now and one can argue that Piroe has deserved more game time in recent matches.

It feels like Farke doesn’t see the need to change things until he’s backed in a corner, which isn’t a good attribute to have as a manager.
