Leeds United offer contract to Hidemasa Morita amid conflicting transfer reports

Leeds United have offered Sporting CP midfielder Hidemasa Morita a two-year contract ahead of the upcoming transfer window.

According to A Bola on 8 May, the deal includes an option for a further year and it remains to be seen whether the Whites can reach an agreement with him.

Only a few days back, sources at Elland Road dismissed Morita as a summer target, making the situation one to keep an eye on for fans in LS11.

The Japan international is said to be keen on playing in the Premier League and could fulfil his dream at the West Yorkshire outfit.

Morita’s name will surely remain in the headlines at Leeds until his future is officially clarified, making for an intriguing saga in LS11.

Leeds United have priorities wrong with Hidemasa Morita deal

If Leeds are indeed going ahead with the signing of Morita, then they need to re-evaluate their approach for the transfer window.

Last summer, the Whites arguably got lucky after their gambles on Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Lukas Nmecha, but they can’t expect the same to happen every year.

The Peacocks already have an abundance of talent in the middle of the park and resources would most certainly be better used to reinforce other areas of the pitch.

A new number nine and defensive additions would undoubtedly go a long way in helping the West Yorkshire outfit make further progress in the Premier League next season.

Daniel Farke has Ao Tanaka worry at Elland Road

The only reason Daniel Farke would probably consider getting Morita is if Ao Tanaka left Leeds in the summer.

The two Japan internationals have similar profiles and it would make sense for the Whites to replace the former Fortuna Dusseldorf star with the Sporting CP ace.

Tanaka has struggled for game time this season, but the 27-year-old has found his way back into Farke’s plans in recent weeks, potentially securing his future at Elland Road for the 2026-27 campaign.

The West Yorkshire outfit have all but confirmed their top-flight status for next season and 49ers Enterprises have a big summer ahead to re-establish the LS11 club in the Premier League.
