Leeds United must avoid Aaron Ramsdale trap as Newcastle decision made
Leeds United had been linked with a move for Aaron Ramsdale.
The Whites will have already initiated their recruitment plans ahead of the summer transfer window, with several areas of the squad in need of attention.
Leeds need to add more firepower to take the pressure off Dominic Calvert-Lewin, while also adding more defensive cover if Daniel Farke is to stick with the same style of play.
However, the number one priority is likely to be a new goalkeeper, with Karl Darlow’s future uncertain given his contract situation.
Ramsdale has been linked with a move to Elland Road in recent transfer windows, but his stats from his time with Newcastle showcase why a renewed move would be a mistake.

Aaron Ramsdale’s future decided at Newcastle
Prior to his loan move to Newcastle, Ramsdale was linked with Leeds, who opted to sign Lucas Perri instead from Lyon.
Since then, the former Arsenal star has dropped back behind Nick Pope in the pecking order, with a report from Lee Ryder stating that the Magpies will not be signing him permanently.

Ramsdale will return to Southampton this summer, though for how long remains to be seen given their Championship status.

Leeds may find themselves tempted to make a new move for the goalkeeper, and that will be exactly what Southampton want.
Ramsdale’s Premier League stats speak volumes
If Ramsdale were to get a move to the Premier League this summer, it would be on the basis of his reputation as opposed to his ability.
He ranked among the bottom 15.4 per cent of Premier League goalkeepers for his save percentage, which came in at a measly 59.5 per cent.
It would be a marginal upgrade on Perri in that regard, and a big downgrade on Darlow, who recorded a 70 per cent save percentage.
Leeds need to have foinficent on their goalkeeper next season if they are to progress, and it’s clear as day that Ramsdale would not be able to provide it.
