Leeds United interest in Jeremy Monga clarified as clear favourites emerge for Leicester gem

Leeds United‘s supposed interest in Jeremy Monga has been clarified as the race to sign the Leicester City gem heats up.

Monga has already made 37 first-team appearances for Leicester, despite still being just 16 years of age.

The winger scored one goal and assisted two more for the Foxes this past season as they suffered relegation from the Championship.

Leicester’s drop into the third tier is only likely to intensify the speculation surrounding one of their crown jewels.

And with the summer transfer window right around the corner, an update of sorts as emerged regarding Leeds and Monga.

Arsenal favourites for Jeremy Monga signature

Leeds are clearly willing to do some shopping in the EFL, having also been linked with Middlesbrough’s Hayden Hackney among others of late.

Monga would be more of one for the future, though, rather than a player ready to slot straight into a Premier League team.

As per an update from The Talent Hunter, however, Leeds are not looking to sign Monga this summer, contrary to previous suggestions.

Manchester United are also said to not be interested right now, leaving Arsenal as the favourites to sign the teenager.

The situation is described as “one to keep an eye on”, suggesting this one is not done yet should fresh interest emerge.

It had previously been reported that Leeds were looking to sign Monga for a fee in the region of £6million, but that appears wide of the mark.

Leeds taking right approach with transfers

The summer window is not even open yet, but already Leeds are being linked with plenty of players.

It has been widely reported that Hidemasa Morita will be heading to Elland Road when his Sporting CP deal expires in the summer.

That can be considered a real coup, given the Japan international is highly regarded and yet is available for free – a likely signing-on fee aside.

Plenty of EFL players have also been mentioned which, while many on the face of it will struggle to get excited, there are plenty of gems out there.

If the Whites can add quality in a few different positions, while also potentially bringing in a couple of talents for the future, that would be considered a very good window overall.
