Leeds United face no-brainer Harvey Elliott decision as Elland Road move mooted

Leeds United have been mooted as a potential landing spot for Harvey Elliott this summer.

With Premier League safety as close as it could be, the Whites are fully focused on their FA Cup semi-final clash with Chelsea.

However, plans in regard to the summer transfer window will have also been drawn up, with adding more creativity to Daniel Farke’s squad likely to be on the agenda.

Lois Openda has already been linked, as have several other attacking options who have struggled for gaemtime over the last 12 months.

But Elliott is the latest to be suggested as a target for Leeds, and he is the exact type of profile that the Whites are missing.

Harvey Elliott question must be asked at Leeds

Speaking exclusively to MOT Leeds News, Bryan King suggested Leeds would be the perfect place for Elliott to shine, having struggled on loan at Aston Villa.

He said: “He’ll go back to Liverpool, and I imagine he’ll be sold in the summer. There will be clubs that want him and will be suited to him more than others.

“Leeds is the sort of place that he would feel at ease. He could end up there for sure.”

And based on what he achieved in a limited number of appearances for Liverpool last season, it would be the perfect move to make for the Whites.

Elliott averaged 2.5 chances created per 90 for the Reds in the Premier League last season, which saw him rank among the top 4.3 per cent of midfielders.

He also averaged one dribble per game, which again saw him rank among the top 23.3 per cent of players for his position.

Even Jurgen Klopp was a big fan of Elliott when the pair were at Liverpool, with the German having previously hailed him as a “brilliant kid”.

Noah Okafor aside, Leeds have struggled in both of those areas, and giving Elliott the license to roam would be a huge boost to their chances of addressing that.

How much would Leeds have to pay for Elliott?

While Liverpool are yet to set a price for Elliott, Aston Villa would have had to pay a fee in the region of £35million to sign him.

Given his lack of gametime this season, that fee may well be reduced in the summer, meaning the Whites could bring him to Elland Road for a fee around £30m.

For a player of his quality, who still has years ahead of him, it would be a more than reasonable fee that would help take Leeds to the next level.
