Leeds United have been linked with Santiago Bueno after Wolves’ relegation was confirmed.

Signing players from relegated clubs can often be seen as a risk, but for others, it can also be seen as a move with potentially massive benefits.

Price tags are generally reduced, and players are almost always keen on making an immediate return to the top flight, which is likely to be the case with a handful of Wolves stars.

Bueno has been linked with a move to Leeds, with the Uruguay defender having impressed in the Premier League despite their demise.

However, that comes months after Hugo Bueno was linked with a move to Elland Road, and a double swoop could be on the cards this summer.

Hugo Bueno makes too much sense to ignore

Leeds need depth in all areas of the pitch, and they have certainly lacked that at left-back.

Gabriel Gudmundsson has had an excellent debut campaign in the Premier League, but the lack of competition on that side of the pitch is a concern, especially if he were to suffer an injury.

And with Bueno linked with Leeds in the past, it would make plenty of sense for the Whites to pursue a deal for him, alongside Santiago.

The 23-year-old left-back averages 2.11 completed crosses per 90 in the Premier League, which is the best for any player in his position this season, while his 32.9 per cent completion rate also ranks him among the top 15 per cent.

On top of that, he has also created 35 chances.

Leeds utilise their full-backs plenty in transition, and that added quality in terms of delivery would certainly aid some of the concerns that have emerged in the final third.

In comparison, Gudmundsson averages just 0.82 completed crosses per game, with an accuracy of 26.4 per cent.

What would this mean for Gabriel Gudmundsson?

Ultimately, not a lot.

If Leeds are to progress in the Premier League, they need competition across all areas of the squad, and Bueno, or both Buenos, for that matter, would certainly add that.

It would give the Swede even more incentive to perform at the highest level or risk losing his place in the starting 11.

For Daniel Farke, it would be a very healthy position to be in next season.
