Leeds United could be set for Joe Gelhardt premium after Hull City’s Wembley scenes

Leeds United may expect Hull City to make an approach for Joe Gelhardt.

The Whites are now aware as to who 18 of their 19 opponents will be for next season, after Hull secured a 1-0 win over Middlesbrough in the Championship play-off final.

Oli McBurnie scored the only goal of the game, and a late one at that, to ensure the Tigers achieved their goal of promotion.

Gelhardt played an influential role for Hull throughout the season, while also scoring in the semi-final to take them to Wembley.

And with the Tigers now set to push for summer recruits, they may make a move to sign Gelhardt.

How much could Leeds get for Joe Gelhardt?

At one point, it was looking as though Leeds would have to give up on Gelhardt and move him on for next to nothing, but this season may have changed that.

The 24-year-old managed 14 goals and four assists in the Championship for Hull, having started 35 times for them.

As per Transfermarkt, the Leeds forward is valued at £8.6m, which may be a fair enough reflection as to what the Whites could expect to receive from his sale this summer.

However, it remains to be seen if Hull are still interested in a deal, but if so, their promotion may serve as a boost to Leeds’ finances.

Leeds may take other option with Gelhardt

Selling him is one option, but Leeds could also look to give Gelhardt a chance at Elland Road in the Premier League.

His numbers in the Championship should not be overlooked, and his versatility could be useful to Daniel Farke.

Gelhardt would typically adopt a similar role to that of Brenden Aaronson and would almost certainly do a better job at it, given what he has showcased over the last 12 months.
