Leeds United await Lois Openda decision as approach made for transfer

Leeds United have been linked with a move to sign Lois Openda this summer.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin had an excellent debut campaign with the Whites, though the lack of goals around him was certainly one of the concerns.

Leeds will look to address that in the summer transfer window, knowing that their ability to progress will depend on it.

Openda has been linked with an Elland Road switch over the last few months, having failed to impress since moving to Juventus.

And the latest update on the Belgian will have Leeds waiting in the wings ahead of a potential approach for the striker.

Lois Openda decision yet to be made at Juventus

Had Leeds looked to sign Openda last summer, excitement would have been running through the veins of everyone at Elland Road.

The Belgian had managed 20 goal involvements for Leipzig, having had a hand in 35 goals the season prior.

However, his move to Juventus has failed, with Openda having managed just two goal involvements in 34 appearances across all competitions.

Gazzetta dello Sport have since reported that an exit from Turin is looking likely, though Juventus are yet to decide whether they want to cut their losses and sell the forward, or loan him out.

Nevertheless, Coventry City are said to have made an approach for the striker, leaving Leeds in limbo.

Would Openda be a good addition for Leeds?

His record in Germany speaks for itself, but so does his record in Italy.

A straight loan would be lower risk for the Whites, though the fee needed for a permanent deal would likely be too much for a player who has struggled for form over the last 12 months.

Leeds need more attacking reinforcements as a priority this summer, but the outcome of Juventus’ decision will decide whether a move is worth pursuing.
