Dmytro Riznyk shows Leeds United what he’s all about as summer bid already launched
Dmytro Riznyk, who has been linked with Leeds United, impressed for Shakhtar Donetsk, despite their 3-1 defeat to Crystal Palace.
Safety remains the priority, but plans are already in place at Elland Road ahead of what is expected to be another big recruitment push by the Whites.
Among the list of priorities is the arrival of a new goalkeeper, with Leeds having already been linked with several potential targets.
James Trafford is one of those mooted for a move, though the price tag could be an issue.
Reports earlier in the week stated that Leeds had made a bid to sign Riznyk for a fee in the region of £8.5million, and after his showing against the Eagles, they seem to be barking up the right trees.

How did Dmytro Riznyk fare vs Crystal Palace?
Oliver Glasner’s side have one foot in the final of the Conference League after their 3-1 win over Shakhtar, though it could have been far worse had it not been for Riznyk.
The 27-year-old made three saves on the night, while also completing two high claims, showing his willingness to make use of his penalty area, which has been lacking when either Lucas Perri or Karl Darlow has played this season.
| vs Crystal Palace | Riznyk |
| Saves | 3 |
| Accurate passes | 22 |
| Acted as sweeper | 2 |
| High claim | 2 |
| Saves inside box | 3 |
He completed 88 per cent of his 25 attempted passes, which again demonstrates how comfortable he is on the ball.
However, it was his double save that earned him the most attention, even if it amounted to very little in the end, given the scoreline.
The Ukrainian denied Ismaila Sarr from point-blank range, before again denying Jean-Philippe Mateta, with the score even at the time.
Leeds are looking in the right places this summer
Trafford would be a great signing, but as always with young English talent, they come at a premium.
And with it unknown what level of finances Leeds will have available this summer, it may prove to be one step too far.
Signing players, and in particular goalkeepers, from abroad can often yield the same results if not better, while also costing far less.
That would be the case with Riznyk, who certainly looks to be a solid candidate for the number one spot at Elland Road next season.
