Leeds United should hit 40 points with Daniel Farke hailed after what he did to players at Old Trafford

Leeds United are well on their way to Premier League survival after their memorable win at Old Trafford on Monday evening.

Daniel Farke dropped to his knees at full-time as the Whites secured a famous 2-1 victory against Manchester United, thanks to two Noah Okafor goals.

The win took Leeds four points clear of Tottenham and the Premier League relegation zone, but they will not be done there, with six games still to play.

Leeds welcome Wolves and Burnley to Elland Road in two of their next three league games, with an FA Cup semi-final against Chelsea at Wembley also approaching.

Farke has proven many of his doubters wrong in recent months, and the way he inspired his players to win at Old Trafford has been hailed by Keith Wyness.

Daniel Farke inspires Leeds United to Premier League survival

Wyness believes that Leeds will now hit 40 points and secure survival soon, with 18 points still available as they sit four behind that goal.

Speaking exclusively to MOT Leeds News, the ex-Everton and Aston Villa chief executive was delighted for Farke and the Whites, who should be safe now.

“I think 36 points is a good place to be at,” Wyness said.

“I think they’ll add to that, and I think they’re pretty much safe now in my view. So that’s come down to three clubs.

“For Leeds, they played well at Old Trafford, and they deserved the win. I think there was obviously the players are playing for Daniel Farke. He got them right. He got them up for the game. Good old Daniel.

“I’m pleased for him. He’s done well.

“And I think they could reach 40 points and they’ll be safe anyway, I think this season.

“But that was a crucial one, and for the fans to win at Old Trafford, as we say, is fabulous, and as somebody said, they’ve never seen such a celebration of so many Yorkshiremen at one time when they actually won the game at Old Trafford, so a bit of fun.

“I think it was great for Leeds, very pleased for them, and I think that was a hard-fought, well-deserved win; it wasn’t lucky.”

Who is left for Leeds United?

Many people had written off the trip to Old Trafford before kick-off, with games against the bottom four of the Premier League still to come more important.

Three points there and released some of that pressure ahead of a huge final run.

Wolves and Burnley at Elland Road could deliver six points, with games away at Tottenham and West Ham also to come in their final six.

With Brighton and Bournemouth also hit-and-miss on their day, Leeds and Farke are now really in the driving seat to survive, but they’ll want to do it as quickly as possible.

Three points against Wolves is a must to start that goal.
