Leeds United should sack Daniel Farke regardless of relegation outcome

Leeds United can do much better than Daniel Farke, and their recent struggles have showcased that.

Premier League survival is the one and only goal for the Whites this season, and Farke may well be the man who achieves that with them ahead of the final seven games of the season.

However, the German’s limitations have been on show throughout the campaign, even through their good run of form that made it seem like survival was almost nailed on.

But now that the results have stopped flowing, and the performance levels have dropped, relegation fears are as strong as ever, though Farke isnt the only one to blame.

However, Farke’s future at Elland Road will be examined in the summer, and if the Whites are to progress, they must consider what many would deem as a ruthless decision.

Daniel Farke has done all he can with Leeds

If Farke keeps Leeds in the Premier League, then the job has been done.

However, Leeds will then be looking to build on that success in the following campaign, and the German has never shown the credentials that he has what it takes to be the man to do that.

Farke is a manager with an excellent record in the Championship, and a fairly woeful record in the Premier League, and to trust him with what is likely to be another huge recruitment push in the summer would be a big mistake.

His unwillingness to adapt has caused issues more often than not, and his desire to stick with struggling players has again brought more bad results than it has good.

Labelling it as being sacked would perhaps be harsh and somewhat an injustice, but Leeds need to move on from him in the summer, regardless of what happens between now and the end of May.

Who could Leeds hire to replace Farke?

The Whites had been linked with a whole host of managers over the last 12 months, especially after it was rumoured that Farke would be sacked after promotion.

However, the key to progression will be hiring someone who prioritises their attacking identity, which is quite the opposite of what Farke has done.

His defence-first mentality is important for a newly-promoted side, but repeating that trick for a second season in a row is where teams often fall short and suffer from the so-called second-season syndrome.

As for who that could be, it remains unknown, but that is definitely the route that needs to be taken.
