Supercomputer predicts Leeds United to miss out on 31-year first vs Crystal Palace

Leeds United are desperate for all three points when they travel to Selhurst Park to face Crystal Palace on Sunday.

The Whites may have secured their place in the last eight of the FA Cup last Sunday, but they have to turn their attention back to the Premier League.

Leeds have lost back-to-back top-flight matches at Elland Road, with both Sunderland and Man City travelling to LS11 and leaving with three points.

And a tough trip now awaits to Oliver Glasner’s Crystal Palace, who most recently drew 0-0 with AEK Larnaca in the Europa Conference League.

Leeds could still be relegated from the Premier League, and Daniel Farke’s side will have to be at their best at Selhurst Park if they want to secure their second away win of the campaign.

Crystal Palace predicted as favourites vs Leeds

Farke’s men won the reverse fixture 4-1 at Elland Road, with Dominic Calvert-Lewin scoring a brace on the night.

The Whites are now looking to complete the league double over Palace for the first time since 1994-95.

However, according to Opta‘s supercomputer, Leeds’ 31-year wait looks set to continue.

The Eagles are unbeaten in their last seven home league games against Leeds since losing 2-1 in the Championship in March 2006.

However, Palace have lost their last three top-flight matches against promoted sides, starting with a 4-1 defeat at Leeds in December.

With Leeds winless in their last four league games, this will definitely be a contest that both sides can win, but the Eagles are certainly the favourites.

Luckily, Leeds should have Dominic Calvert-Lewin available, but they were after Jorgen Strand Larsen, who opted to join Palace.

Leeds could be dealt even bigger Jorgen Strand Larsen blow

Leeds tabled a £40million bid for the Norwegian striker, but Wolves were insistent on requiring £50m.

Palace ultimately paid the fee to bring Strand Larsen to London, and he has already hit the ground running at Selhurst Park.

In 22 Premier League games with Wolves this season, Strand Larsen scored one goal from 21 shots (4.8 per cent conversion), averaging a goal every 1,405 minutes.

In five games since joining Palace, he’s scored three goals from 11 shots (27.3 per cent conversion), averaging a goal every 136 minutes.

It would be a sickening blow for Leeds if the man they were desperate to sign scores and deals more uncertainty towards their survival hopes.

Therefore, the likes of Joe Rodon and Jaka Bijol will have to be very alert throughout the 90 minutes.
