Rhys Chadwick has Daniel Farke on red alert after what he did for Leeds United Under-21s
Rhys Chadwick could be the next big thing to come from Leeds United‘s academy.
Archie Gray will be remembered for years at Leeds as being their most promising youth product, though there are several others looking to follow a similar path.
That includes his brother Harry Gray, Alfie Cresswell and Chadwick himself, who has been in fine form in the Premier League 2 this season.
Daniel Farke is looking to keep Leeds in the Premier League, and an injection of youth could provide a much-needed boost, and Cahdwick could provide it.

Rhys Chadwick shows quality despite Sunderland defeat
Leeds haven’t had the best of times against Sunderland recently, with their controversial clash at Elland Road with the Black Cats the first of two defeats against them this year.
The second occurred on Monday night, when the Wearsiders’ Under-21 side secured a 5-2 win against the Whites in the Premier League 2.
But despite the defeat, Chadwick emerged from the clash with plenty of extra credit, having registered the assist for both of the goals.
It took him up to a total of seven goal involvements in 14 appearances for Leeds’ Under-21s this season, which is the most of any player at Thorp Arch, making the new contract he was awarded in January thoroughly deserved.
Chadwick has impressed in several areas of his game, and should that continue in the coming weeks, Farke may have no choice but to hand him a chance in the first team.
Daniel Farke will love one aspect of Chadwick’s game
His goals and assists have earned him the most credit this season, but Chadwick’s versatility is what Farke will love the most.
Despite still being just 19 years old, the teenager has showcased his ability across several positions, with defensive midfield being the area in which he has been utilised most often.
Chadwick’s appearances per position
- Defensive midfield – 37 appearances
- Attacking midfield – 22 appearances
- Central midfield – 11 appearances
- Centre-forward – 5 appearances
- Right midfield – four appearances
- Other – 3 appearances
The German boss has often looked to test new strategies by having players adopt new roles, and Chadwick’s willingness to do that could have him in good standing.
Whether a debut comes this season or next remains to be seen, but it certainly isn’t far away.
