Oliver Glasner may have handed keys to victory to Leeds United after Crystal Palace developments

Oliver Glasner’s desire to win the Conference League with Crystal Palace could benefit Leeds United.

Daniel Farke’s side travel to Selhurst Park on Sunday to take on Crystal Palace, with hopes of doing the league double over them.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin bagged a brace in a 4-1 win against the Eagles at Elland Road in December, and the Englishman will no doubt be keen to score again against the side he has managed the most career goals against.

A win would be huge for Leeds’ fight against relegation, and the chances of them achieving that may have been boosted by a decision made by Glasner.

Crystal Palace lineup in Conference League hints at changes vs Leeds

Sitting in 13th on 38 points, Crystal Palace have very little left to play for in the Premier League.

Meanwhile, Leeds’ relegation chances mean they have it all to play for.

Palace aren’t really at risk of relegation, while their chances of qualifying for Europe are also rather slim, depending on how many places are awarded to the Premier League.

At this stage, prioritising the Conference League makes the most sense for them, and that seems to be what Glasner is doing, having named a full-strength 11 to take on AEK Larnaca on Thursday night.

Adam Wharton, Jorgen Strand Larsen and Ismaila Sarr were all named in the starting 11, and that could bode well for the Whites.

Given that the return leg is just four days after their clash with Leeds, and away from home at that, Palace may well rotate their squad quite signficantly for Sunday.

And even more so, given the fact that they failed to win the home leg.

What are Leeds’ chances of victory vs Palace?

Regardless of how many changes the Eagles make on Sunday, if any at all, Selhurst Park is a tough place to go.

And even more so when taking into account the fact that Leeds have managed just one win away from home all season, with only Wolves having won fewer.

Unfortunately for Farke, that is demonstrated by Opta‘s prediction for the game, which has Palace as favourites with a 52.9 per cent chance of victory.

Leeds have a 23 per cent chance of taking all three points on the road for only the second time this season.
