Lucas Perri won’t get Leeds United wish after what happened in win vs Norwich City

Daniel Farke gave Lucas Perri another chance to prove himself as Leeds United beat Norwich City 3-0 in the FA Cup on Sunday.

The Canaries were handily beaten at Elland Road in the fifth round of the competition on 8 March, with Sean Longstaff, Gabriel Gudmundsson and Joel Piroe getting on the scoresheet.

It was a brilliant performance from the hosts despite the German manager making 10 changes to his side, showcasing the quality of the Premier League side over the Championship club.

Gundmundsson stood out against Norwich and was undoubtedly the Man of the Match, with several other fringe players putting up a convincing display for Farke.

Lucas Perri didn’t have much to do for Leeds United vs Norwich City

Perri would’ve certainly been hoping to put on an outstanding display and give Farke second thoughts about his number one goalkeeper at Leeds.

The Brazilian shot-stopper has lost his place to Karl Darlow in the starting lineup and it doesn’t look like he’ll be the first-choice for the foreseeable future.

Leeds beat Norwich convincingly and the German manager didn’t really have to worry about Philippe Clement’s team scoring.

As per Sofascore, Perri made three saves in the win over the Canaries, recorded 86 per cent passing accuracy and lost possession four times.

The saves the former Olympique Lyon goalkeeper made weren’t necessarily eye-catching, and fans would’ve expected the shot-stopper to keep them out after some tame efforts from Norwich’s attackers.

Before the game, the 28-year-old must have surely thought keeping a clean sheet would put him in contention to start the next game against Crystal Palace in the Premier League on 15 March, but he may not get that wish after the West Yorkshire outfit coasted past the Norfolk club.

Speaking on BBC Radio 5 Live, Paul Robinson said, “Leeds goalkeeper Perri has had very little to do, one save earlier on, so it’s up to Leeds to how they want to finish this game.”

Daniel Farke given major team selection headache after what’s seen at Elland Road

Lukas Nmecha and Piroe were a constant threat to Norwich’s backline as Leeds qualified for the quarter-finals of the FA Cup for the first time in 23 years.

In the last few matches, fans in LS11 have been left frustrated by the lack of cutting edge from the Whites, as Ilia Gruev and Brenden Aaronson struggle in the midfield.

With Nmecha, Piroe and even Longstaff’s impressive displays, Farke surely must have a selection dilemma for the trip to Selhurst Park.

Some of the players who haven’t had much game time in recent weeks have certainly shown that they deserve more opportunities in the upcoming games.
