Lucas Perri sends ‘vamos’ message after Leeds goalkeeper’s shootout heroics vs West Ham
Lucas Perri took to Instagram to mark his match-winning performance for Leeds United in the FA Cup quarter-finals over West Ham, saying: “vamos”.
The Brazilian was indeed Leeds’ hero at the London Stadium, after a brilliant performance across the entire 120 minutes, before some penalty shootout magic.
Perri saved penalties from both Jarrod Bowen and Pablo in the shootout, leaving Pascal Struijk with the honour of sending Leeds to Wembley for the semi-finals.
Indeed, the 28-year-old made a number of wonderful saves in normal time, particularly in the first half, where his stop to deny Taty Castellanos from near point-blank range being the pick of the bunch.
It was an unforgettable afternoon in the capital, and it’s a Leeds win that sets up a mouth-watering semi-final showdown with bitter rivals Chelsea at Wembley on 25 April.

What did Lucas Perri say after Leeds FA Cup win vs West Ham?
Perri may have reclaimed his starting role with his man of the match performance against West Ham, after recently losing it to Karl Darlow since the beginning of January.
That would be harsh on Darlow, as the 35-year-old has done little wrong for Leeds since ascending to the top of the goalkeeping hierarchy at Elland Road, but how Daniel Farke can not stick with Perri post-West Ham seems incredibly tough.
| Perri’s stats vs West Ham | Result |
| Total saves | 4 |
| Shootout saves | 2 |
| Saves from inside the box | 4 |
| Pass accuracy in own half | 100% (17/17) |
| Recoveries | 10 |
In a debut season in West Yorkshire that has been marred by inconsistent performances, Perri saved his very best showing for Easter Sunday.
His performance will have been the toast of the city on Sunday evening, and he was quick to head to social media to share his thoughts on the win.

Posting to his Instagram account, Perri said: “Into the Semi-finals! VAMOOOOOSSSSSS.”
Farke has impossible Perri/Darlow decision on his hands now
So, what will/should Farke do with Darlow and Perri now regarding Leeds’ Premier League relegation run-in?
Well, at this stage of the season, and with his Whites team not yet having secured their top flight status, feeding the hot hand whenever you can is surely the wise thing to do, and Perri’s are sizzling after that West Ham display.
However, Darlow has registered back-to-back clean sheets against Crystal Palace and Brentford, so it’s not as if he’s gone off the boil either.

But with Perri always brought in to be Leeds’ long-term number one last summer, Farke probably will and should stick with him for the trip to Old Trafford next Monday.
Perri has proven he can stand up to an onslaught of attacks and make multiple key saves against West Ham, and that’s likely what Leeds can expect against Man United too.
