Lucas Perri in line for make-or-break start vs West Ham, Leeds United future in his own hands
Lucas Perri looks likely to be given another chance in Leeds United‘s FA Cup game against West Ham on Sunday.
The Brazilian’s last two games have both come in the FA Cup, with wins against Championship sides Norwich City and Birmingham City.
Daniel Farke has rotated his starting goalkeeper in the Premier League this campaign, but Karl Darlow looks to be his first choice right now.
The Welshman also impressed while away with his nation during the international break, which gives the Whites boss even more reason to trust him ahead of the run-in.
Perri has been criticised for inconsistent performances this campaign, and his whole Leeds future could change with what happens at the London Stadium this weekend.

This is why Lucas Perri will likely start vs West Ham
Darlow has been in good form for Leeds and with Wales, which means there’s a high chance that he will be given the game off against West Ham.
Not only that, but the Whites know that the veteran keeper could lose his good momentum, which means keeping another shot-stopper sharp all the more important.

As seen in the table above, Darlow featured in both of Wales’ international games, and despite making a penalty shootout save against Bosnia last week, he was unable to prevent his nation from being knocked out of the World Cup qualifiers.
Farke will most likely see the Premier League as much more important than the FA Cup, though the German will understand the desire for a cup run, too.
Perri has played well in the FA Cup games, and a big performance against league relegation rivals in West Ham could see him get back into Farke’s first-team thoughts.
What did Daniel Farke do with Perri over international break?
Perri was one of several Leeds players who were not called up to his national team for the break, unsurprisingly.
Speaking before the West Ham game, Farke opened up on what he did with the multiple players who weren’t called up.
The Leeds boss said, as quoted by the Yorkshire Evening Post: “Important to allow them some more time off, last time was in November. This season costs a lot of energy. We allowed them two days off after Brentford, then three days of individual training.
“Then they travel back, and since the end of last week, back to team training. Can’t allow too many days off as we’re in a relegation fight and the FA Cup.”
So it seems like, as expected, Farke is taking the FA Cup seriously this season, despite the ongoing Premier League concerns, as Perri will have been working hard down at Thorp Arch after his time off.
