Leeds United: Why Harvey Elliott is the final piece Daniel Farke needs to complete Elland Road puzzle
Leeds United should be targeting an attacking midfielder in the summer window, and links to Harvey Elliott suggest they will.
The Whites have been in the market for a number 10 for over a year after an attempt to bring Facundo Buonanotte to Elland Road failed in the 2025 summer transfer window.
Daniel Farke would eventually land his man in the following window, but the Argentine failed to impress and was handed just three appearances for the LS11 outfit.
The deal to bring the South American to Yorkshire was a loan move, so he is now set to depart.
Leeds’ summer business may now include finding a better alternative to the 21-year-old, with Elliott a prime candidate.

Why Daniel Farke must push for Harvey Elliott transfer at Leeds United
Leeds United have been mooted as a potential destination for out-of-favour Liverpool midfielder Elliott ahead of the summer window.
News of Slot’s sacking could complicate Leeds’ interest in Elliott, as there is now a risk that the Englishman could stay at Anfield.

| Expiry | June 2027 |
| Wages per week | £65,000 |
| Release clause | N/A |
However, that should not stop any push for the attacking midfielder, as he may hold the final piece to Farke’s puzzle.
The last two seasons have been difficult for Elliott – despite becoming a Premier League winner during that time – as he has made just 23 Premier League appearances combined. But in 2023-2024, his performances were exceptional.
During that campaign, the midfielder started just 11 games, with 23 appearances as a substitute. Despite this, he ended the season with nine goal contributions.
In that season, he averaged a goal or assist every 151 minutes. Not a terrible return for the 23-year-old.
The Whites have been crying out for a decisive attacking midfielder, who can deliver that killer pass or shot. Elliott has proved to be that player with limited minutes, so imagine what he could do with trust fully behind him.

How much could Harvey Elliott cost Leeds United?
The one good thing for Leeds United is that they already have a barometer of the fees that could be involved for Elliott should they make their move.
Aston Villa had agreed a £35million option to buy with Liverpool, so the Whites would surely not be paying anymore than that total.
Additionally, after limited appearances for the Birmingham-based club, that could see his value drop even further.
The Anfield star’s contract is also set to expire in June 2027, so the LS11 outfit know Liverpool will be eager to sell now if he is deemed surplus to requirements.
The Reds have already let too many players leave on free transfers, and they will want to avoid another loss of cash injection.
