Leeds United vs Brentford: Three decisions Jarred Gillett got awfully wrong at Elland Road

Leeds United drew 0-0 against Brentford on Saturday, with referee Jarred Gillett getting three key decisions wrong in the Premier League clash.

Gillett and Daniel Farke have a history, with the German left unhappy with the Australian earlier in the season against Nottingham Forest.

The Whites struggled to break down Brentford, but luckily for the home side, the away team had the same struggles.

There were not too many highlights to discuss in the goalless draw, but Gillett had a few poor moments.

Now, Farke could have reason to complain about the 39-year-old official once more after Leeds’ result against Brentford.

Brentford somehow avoid any bookings vs Leeds

Despite Brentford committing more fouls than Leeds, the Bees somehow managed to avoid picking up any bookings.

Both Pascal Struijk and Jayden Bogle were issued with warnings following first-half fouls.

Farke will no doubt feel aggrieved about the fact the opposition were allowed to commit offences seemingly freely throughout the match.

The lack of action felt inconsistent, and even just one yellow card could have changed how the game played out.

Anton Stach penalised for soft contact on Mathias Jensen

In the ninth minute, Jarred Gillett awarded Mathias Jensen a foul when Anton Stach was deemed to have pushed him over.

However, the contact was very minimal, and it was unlikely to have made the Danish international drop to the ground as he did.

That moment should have set the tone for the game, but throughout the match various instances of a similar nature were let go.

Gillett did not remain consistent based on that decision, and Leeds may feel aggrieved that such a soft foul went against them, with few going in their favour.

On a personal note, Stach will be disappointed with his overall performance, though.

Igor Thiago committed four fouls without a yellow

Igor Thiago should feel lucky that he did not pick up a yellow card against Leeds.

The Brazilian was involved in countless fouls versus the Whites, but Gillett failed to issue him a booking.

While they were all innocuous moments, and on their own not yellow cards, the accumulation of offences should have resulted in a booking.

There were also numerous occasions where the forward should have been penalised by Gillett, but no foul was given. In the end, it was four fouls that the Brazilian officially produced.
