Leeds United safety all but confirmed as supercomputer predicts result vs Wolves

Leeds United are back in Premier League action on Saturday as they welcome Wolves to Elland Road.

A brace from Noah Okafor set the Whites up for a fantastic 2-1 win against Manchester United at Old Trafford on Monday, seeing them forge a six-point gap to the relegation zone with six matches to go.

Daniel Farke‘s side were in desperate need of points after the international break and FA Cup, after a string of draws heading into the pause.

Though, just as quickly as Leeds were dragged back into trouble, they have been able to launch themselves back up to 15th in the standings.

Welcoming the basement dwellers Wolves to Elland Road, Farke’s side are well-placed to extend the gap further, and this is more than backed up with the latest prediction from Opta’s supercomputer.

Leeds to strengthen survival chances as Wolves come to town

Earlier this season, the Whites secured what would be the first of two away wins thus far, as they beat Wolves 3-1 at Molineux.

Goals from Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Anton Stach and Okafor would secure all three points against the Black Country outfit, who have been all but condemned to relegation since.

How Opta’s supercomputer predicts Leeds vs Wolves to pan out

And looking ahead to Saturday’s clash in West Yorkshire, a similar outcome is predicted by Opta’s supercomputer, which hands Farke’s side a 56 per cent chance of taking victory against Wolves.

Leeds’ win against Wolves back in September would be rather indicative of how the season would pan out for the Old Gold.

Vitor Pereira would lose his job in November, replaced by Rob Edwards.

And while there have been improvements, with wins against both Aston Villa and Liverpool, the campaign as a whole is one to forget for the Black Country club, while Leeds will be looking to inflict further pain.

Wolves clash now looks very different for Leeds United

After the frustrating run of results before the international break, many within the fanbase were beginning to look at home outings against both Wolves and Burnley as the matches that could drag Farke’s side to safety.

With both West Ham and Nottingham Forest picking up form of late, Saturday’s bout was beginning to look huge for Leeds, who would have to make the absolute most of the visit of the league’s bottom side.

Instead, the recent win against Manchester United has transformed the landscape at the bottom end of the standings.

A win against Wolves could see the gap to the bottom three extended to nine points, should results elsewhere go the way of Farke’s side later in the weekend.

The clash was originally seen as the day to get the survival bid back on track.

Instead, Saturday’s outing against Wolves has become an additional bonus after an excellent win at Old Trafford.
