Joe Gelhardt brutally trolled by Hull City teammate Oli McBurnie after Wrexham win
Leeds United loanee Joe Gelhardt has been brutally trolled by team-mate Oli McBurnie after Hull City’s crucial win over Wrexham.
Gelhardt joined the Tigers on loan last summer and since then he has arguably been the Championship side’s player of the season.
The former England Under-20 international, whose contract at Elland Road runs until 2027, has scored 13 goals and added four assists in 30 games for the promotion-chasing team.
Gelhardt was on the scoresheet again as his stunning free-kick gave Hull the lead at fellow top-six hopefuls Wrexham on Tuesday night in a game they won 2-1.
However, not everything went Gelhardt’s way at Stok Cae Ras.

Oli McBurnie pokes fun at Joe Gelhardt’s penalty miss
Just four minutes after Gelhardt’s 40th-minute opener, the Leeds man was fouled in the box by Callum Doyle before being awarded a penalty.
The 23-year-old stepped up but his spot-kick was well saved by Wrexham goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo as Hull took a slender lead into the break.
Hull made it 2-0 in the 63rd minute through Lewis Koumas before Nathan Broadhead set up a tense finish. The visitors held on, and Gelhardt, among many, breathed a huge sigh of relief.
While the club’s social media post praised Gelhardt, McBurnie ribbed his teammate about his penalty miss.
“Joffy won’t be on pens again ole, oleeeeeee,” he posted, along with four laughing face emojis.
That blow was a rare blemish on Gelhardt’s season so far. The attacker, who was traditionally used as a forward but this season has been utilised predominantly as an attacking midfielder, is brimming with confidence.
His stunning free-kick is a sign of that, as Hull boss Sergej Jakirovic gets the best out of the Leeds loanee.
The result kept Hull fifth in the Championship, as they stretched their lead to sixth-placed Wrexham to six points.
Does Gelhardt have a future at Leeds?
Hull have previously said they would love to keep Gelhardt beyond this season but financially, it has to be right for them to proceed with that.
Gelhardt has recaptured the spark that he initially showed at Leeds during the 2021-22 Premier League season but he doesn’t seem to have a future at the Whites.
Former Elland Road favourite Jermaine Beckford can’t see Gelhardt staying at Leeds and for the time being, a parting of the ways seems the best move for all parties.

Yes, he is shining at Hull but that is in the Championship. If Leeds stay up, Gelhardt won’t be in Daniel Farke’s plans.
If Gelhardt was brought back to Leeds, there is a chance he would be back to square one, undoing the progress he made at Hull – who could get promoted themselves.
A Premier League relegation for Leeds may make things interesting regarding Gelhardt’s future but for now, it seems they should focus on trying to get as much money for the youngster as they can this summer.
