Leeds United: Ismaila Sarr slammed for ‘poor’ Jaka Bijol antics in draw vs Crystal Palace

Ismaila Sarr did his best to get Leeds United defender Jaka Bijol sent off.

Leeds secured a point against Crystal Palace, but it was a late flurry of controversial incidents in the first half that took the limelight.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s missed penalty was followed moments later by a foul by Bijol, who had already been booked.

Palace fans were loud in their protests to see the Slovenian receive a second yellow, though they fell on deaf ears with Bijol let off the hook.

Replays showed it to be the correct decision, but it still raised debate in Leeds’ latest draw away to Crystal Palace.

Lee Hendrie fumes at Ismaila Sarr for exaggerating Jaka Bijol contact

Leeds did end the half with ten men, but it was not Bijol who left the pitch.

And rightfully so after footage showed that the defender merely brushed Sarr, who went down holding his face and rolling around the floor in agony.

Upon reviewing the footage, Lee Hendrie couldn’t believe the way the Senegal international was milking the contact, and he made that very clear when commenting via Sky Sports.

He said: “There’s not a lot in that, is there? He makes such a meal of that, that’s poor from Ismaila Sarr.”

While the correct decision, it still left Palace fans furious, though there’s a case to be made that they got what they wanted just minutes later when Gabriel Gudmundsson was shown his second yellow card of the game for a fairly innocuous challenge in the middle of the pitch.

Daniel Farke’s feelings clear after Palace calls for red card

To say that the game sprang to life from that moment on would be an understatement, but it certainly brought out plenty of emotions.

Daniel Farke was clearly not happy with the reaction from the Palace bench, many of whom leapt to their feet in protest, with their players also surrounding the referee.

Farke was booked in the middle of the incident for his own protests, with his frustrations certainly warranted given the reaction from those around him.
