Leeds United have 23-year omen as West Ham relegation on the cards
Leeds United could relegate West Ham on Sunday.
The fact that the Whites head into the final game of the season without the risk of relegation is a testament to just how good this campaign has been.
Leeds had been written off by many, as had Daniel Farke, but they have proven everyone wrong by achieving survival, and with games to spare.
Sunday’s game still holds value, however, with plenty of prize money up for grabs, and the chance to relegate one of the Premier League’s status quo.
And given what happened between Leeds and West Ham back in 2003, a repeat could be on the cards this weekend.

Leeds out to achieve 23-year first
The Whites have already secured two wins against West Ham this season, albeit with one of them being in the FA Cup quarter-finals.
Their other victory was back in October, when Leeds won 2-1 at Elland Road.

Farkw will have his focus set on achieving a league double over the Hammers, and if they do, it will be the first time since 2002-03 that they have managed it.

Ironically, West Ham were relegated from the Premier League that season, and would suffer an identical fate if they were to fall to yet another defeat this weekend.
How have Leeds fared in final-day encounters?
Fortunately for the Whites and unfortunately for the Hammers, Leeds have a very good record when it comes to the final game of the season.
Leeds have lost their final encounter in just two of their 15 Premier League campaigns, with those defeats being in seasons that saw the Whites relegated.
A defeat to Chelsea in 2004 and a defeat to Tottenham in 2023 are the only times that they have failed to get a result on the final day of the season.
