Leeds United: Daniel Farke to fume as Premier League VAR review shares negative reveal
Leeds United may be asking questions of PGMOL after a new reveal over VAR mistakes has been shared.
The Whites enjoyed a successful season, with the goal of Premier League survival obtained well in advance of the final day of the campaign.
Daniel Farke’s ability to turn things around in November proved to be king, and the German deserves plenty of praise.
Farke can often be outspoken about his feelings on decisions in Leeds’ matches, and he was particularly annoyed during Man City’s timewasting at the Etihad.
However, he may become even more annoyed with Premier League officials after a new report on VAR from Leeds’ 2025-2026 season has emerged.

Why Leeds will fume with Premier League referees
VAR is a controversial topic. On one hand, it is there to get decisions that the referee missed, which, on paper, sounds excellent, right?
However, with plenty of subjective decisions in the sport, it has also led to more controversy than many would have expected after its introduction.
| Premier League refereeing and VAR errors from 2025-2026 | Total |
| VAR-related errors via KMI panel | 25 |
| On-field errors not to the VAR threshold | 29 |
| Incorrect second-yellow card decisions | 12 |
Football fans will ultimately always think that referees are making the wrong decisions against them, and in Leeds’ case, they may be the only fanbase that can prove it.
According to the BBC’s review of every VAR and KMI panel adjudged error over the season, the Whites are the only side that have never been on the favourable end of one.
In fact, their total net score of VAR errors leans them the complete opposite way. Farke’s side has been negatively impacted more than any other Premier League outfit with a -4 score.
It is an outcome that will surely cause some fuss at Elland Road, and the Whites will likely be glad they secured relegation through their own means rather than with a helping hand.
This reveal would have hurt a lot more had Leeds been relegated.

Which Leeds incidents were noted in the review?
According to the report, Leeds were involved in quite a few notable decisions over the season.
The most egregious was perhaps when Sunderland defender Luke O’Nien dragged Pascal Struijk around the neck at Elland Road during a 1-0 loss.
Referee Stuart Atwell was called to be sanctioned for his role in missing the decision.
Additionally, it is also shared that Max Dowman should not have received a penalty against Leeds.
Meanwhile, Cole Palmer should have received a second yellow card against Chelsea, with Gabriel Gudmundsson’s second yellow card against Crystal Palace adjudged to be a wrong decision as well.
