Leeds United fans will be counting down the time until they face off against Chelsea in the FA Cup at Wembley.

The Whites look good to make money to stay in the Premier League now, after hitting the 40-point total with four games to spare.

While they are not mathematically safe, nerves are likely to dwindle in that regard with Tottenham and West Ham left behind.

Surviving the drop has not been the only positivity seeping into Elland Road this season, with Daniel Farke’s side handing fans an FA Cup run as well.

As Sunday’s FA Cup semi-final looms closer, the tension is only going to build more as fans await a rare cup clash at Wembley.

Before the season began, it was a position that many supporters would be surprised to see the Whites being in, especially with Farke under pressure up until November.

Nonetheless, Leeds are just two games away from lifting a first major honour since their 1991-1992 league title win.

Sutton, who once played for Chelsea, believes the Elland Road side will take that step closer to glory, predicting them to beat the Blues 2-1.

The former Premier League striker via BBC Sport believes the Whites “have got a lot about them” to set up an FA Cup final clash against Manchester City, who he has predicted to win the other semi-final.

When was the last time Leeds were in the FA Cup final?

The last time Leeds made an FA Cup final was in the 1972-1973 season, where they ultimately lost to Sunderland 1-0. This was 53 years ago.

It was the third time in four years they had reached the final stage of England’s premier cup tournament, with the Whites lifting the trophy a year before, in 1971-1972.

That remains the only success the LS11 outfit have had in the FA Cup, and now Farke will look to cement his name in Leeds’ legacy.

There is plenty on the line, and last season’s FA Cup triumph by Crystal Palace will be proof to the Leeds squad that cup shocks are possible.

Their opponents head into the match with a cloud of uncertainty hanging above their heads after Chelsea sacked Liam Rosenior just days before the clash and it remains to be seen how that could affect them.
