Leeds have 10-year final day form as reason for West Ham belief

Leeds United have only lost three times on the final day of the season over the last decade.

The curtain is about to fall on the 2025-26 Premier League season, and what a strong year it’s been for Leeds.

Daniel Farke‘s side have been to Wembley for an FA Cup semi-final, seen a host of quality players make moves to Elland Road, whilst securing their top-flight status with numerous games in hand.

As such, optimism is rife around Elland Road that 2026-27 will see this Whites team continue to improve, and perhaps even crack the top half next term.

Leeds take on West Ham for one last kickabout in 2025-26, with a win over the Hammers potentially taking them as high as 11th should a handful of teams above them drop points.

What is Leeds United’s final day record over the last 10 years?

Leeds have been named as underdogs against West Ham, with Nuno Espirito Santo’s men fighting for their Premier League lives on Sunday.

Indeed, the Hammers need to first beat Leeds to have any hope of staying up, and also need Tottenham to lose at home to Everton, as a draw surely won’t be good enough as Spurs’ goal difference is far superior.

Farke’s boys can expect a tough game then this weekend, and it will be fascinating to see what the atmosphere is like inside the London Stadium, as there’s sure to be a mix of nerves and energy among the home support.

There’s bound to be twists and turns throughout the day, but Leeds can rest easy knowing there’s nothing at stake for them in terms of relegation.

On top of that, the Whites have enjoyed their final day games over the last decade, as they look to end 2025-26 by extending their unbeaten run in the league to nine games.

From the 2015-16 season to 2024-25, Leeds have won five of their matches on the last day of the season, losing three and drawing two respectively.

Leeds’ five wins in this time period have been against: Plymouth (24-25), Brentford (21-22), West Brom (20-21), Charlton (19-20) and QPR (17-18) respectively.

Meanwhile, the three defeats have been at the hands of: Southampton (23-24), Tottenham (22-23) and Ipswich (18-19) respectively.

The two draws were against Wigan in 2016-17 and Preston in 2015-16 respectively, and so Leeds should take heart from how they’ve fared on the final day over the last decade.

What has West Ham’s home form been like this season?

West Ham have not enjoyed a good 2025-26 season by any means, and are staring down the barrel of relegation to the Championship heading into Sunday.

The Hammers haven’t turned out at that level since the 2011-12 season, but Leeds could help send them back there this weekend.

Interestingly enough, however, the Irons’ home form has been better than their away form this season, despite the fact they’ve played one game less at the London Stadium.

West Ham have won five, drawn four and lost nine from 18 league outings on home soil this term, compared to their four wins, five draws and 10 defeats in 19 on the road.

It’s going to be nervy on Sunday for the home side, and Leeds’ ability to play with total freedom and under no real pressure could see Farke’s side put the Hammers to the sword.
