Joe Rodon among candidates for Leeds Player of the Season: Stats show why award may go elsewhere

Joe Rodon has been one of Leeds United‘s most important players this season.

The campaign is far from over, and with nine games still to be played, Leeds find themselves just three points above the relegation zone.

Form has been hard to come by as of late for the Whites, with just two Premier League wins in 2026, with those coming against Fulham and Nottingham Forest.

But while Daniel Farke attempts to keep Leeds in the top flight, several players will also be looking to play their part, and some have done so more than others.

Has Joe Rodon done enough for Player of the Season award?

Whether it’s Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Ethan Ampadu or Rodon, there have been several players who have provided some big moments to have Leeds in the position they are in.

Rodon was comfortably Leeds’ best player for the first half of the season, but his performance levels since have dropped slightly, and that is backed up by his stats.

With a 51.5 per cent aerial duel win rate, the Welshman actually places in the bottom 23.1 per cent of Premier League defenders for that metric, having won 67 this season.

His total duel win rate isnt much better at 57.7 per cent, which again ranks him just below average for defenders in the top flight.

But while those stats aren’t overly impressive, Rodon has excelled in other areas of his game, as showcased by his Sofascore graphic below.

The 28-year-old has scored two crucial goals for the Whites in the Premier League, while also ranking fifth for central defenders for his ground duel win rate.

Overall, he has had a positive campaign, but perhaps not enough to be named as their Player of the Season, with one clear candidate for the award.

Anton Stach has been one of the signings of the season, stats showcase his importance

Anton Stach could prove to be the difference between relegation and survival for Leeds, and that is the biggest compliment you can give him.

The German maestro has created a remarkable 52 chances in the Premier League for the Whites, with nine of those being deemed as big chances.

It places him in the top 3.5 per cent of players for chance creation, which speaks volumes about the quality he has brought to Elland Road.

Barring any dramatic changes between now and May, Stach is comfortably heading towards the Player of the Season award, and no one comes close to him.
