Jayden Bogle: Leeds star must revert to his old ways as England call-up chances fade

Jayden Bogle’s performance levels at Leeds United have dropped over the last few weeks.

In the earlier stages of the season, Bogle was one of the players you would name as having played an influential role in the success that Leeds had found in the Premier League.

However, the form that had earned him that level of attention has slowly started to drop in recent weeks, coincidentally alongside the Whites’ form.

He’s not the only one, but given the system utilised by Daniel Farke, Leeds certainly need him to be at his best more often than not.

And if Bogle is to be called up to the England squad this summer, his performances are going to have to improve.

Where have things started going wrong for Jayden Bogle?

Bogle hasn’t been bad, so to speak, but he has been nowhere near the same level that he was towards the start of the season when his chances of an England call-up genuinely seemed quite high.

His contributions at both ends of the pitch have earned him praise on a weekly basis, but his impact has dried up.

Most notably, his duel win rate has started causing issues for Leeds, with Bogle now having won just 45.5 per cent of those that he has been involved in, which places him in the bottom 12.7 per cent of Premier League defenders.

In terms of his influence going forward, he also averages just 0.52 chances created per game, which again places him among the bottom 24 per cent of players in the top flight.

For anyone who has watched Leeds substantially over the last 12 months, you will know that Bogle has a lot more to offer than either of those metrics would suggest, and it’s now down to Farke and himself to ensure he returns to the expected levels.

How do Leeds get more from Bogle?

Gabriel Gudmundsson has been the go-to option when starting attacks, with most of Leeds’ forward play coming from the left.

The main reason behind that is the fact that Brenden Aaronson has been on the opposite side, limiting how much they can create.

If Farke can find a way to get someone with more creativity ahead of Bogle, then that will allow him to get involved far more than he has been recently.

Whether that be Noah Okafor in a slightly unfi, mialr position or one of Dan James or Willy Gnonto, there are options.
