Jayden Bogle: England chances done no favours as Chelsea display sums up Leeds form

Jayden Bogle has seen his form drop for Leeds United over the last few weeks.

Leeds’ FA Cup defeat to Chelsea wasn’t for the want of trying, but more so a lack of quality on the day, especially in the forward areas.

The Whites struggled to connect with the final ball on several occasions, and on the times that they did, they failed to take their chances.

Bogle has so often been one of their main sources of attacking threat, but under the arches of Wembley, he failed to replicate that.

And that has been a theme of Bogle’s recent performances for Leeds.

Jayden Bogle’s form is an issue for Leeds

Bogle has had an excellent season, and nothing can take that away from him.

With that said, his performances of late have dropped off, and that will be a concern for the Whites and for Daniel Farke, who has shown continued faith in him.

Against Chelsea, he completed just 74 per cent of his 27 attempted passes, while failing to connect with any of his five attempted crosses.

Bogle is known for his ability to create chances out wide, but against the Blues, he failed to create any.

On top of that, the 25-year-old lost 50 per cent of his 12 ground duels, while also being dribbled past on two occasions.

It was far from a calamitous performance, but it is certainly not one that will have done his ambitious England’s hopes any favours.

Leeds United must sign competition for Bogle this summer

Even if Bogle were to drop off, the likelihood is that he would remain in Leeds’ starting 11, and that comes down to the lack of depth.

James Justin is the only natural replacement for him, and his role as a centre-back somewhat takes away from that.

Signing someone to compete for a position on both flanks will be a necessity for Leeds, especially if they stay in the Premier League.
