Jamie Carragher expects Bournemouth first this season with ‘incredible’ Leeds United prediction

Jamie Carragher is backing Bournemouth to overcome Leeds United in Wednesday’s Premier League clash.

Leeds make the trip to the Vitality Stadium on the back of an impressive 3-0 victory at home to Wolves at the weekend.

That win leaves Daniel Farke‘s men on the verge of safety, with three more points in midweek all but confirming that.

However, Leeds will have their work cut out on the South Coast against a Bournemouth side that could climb up to sixth with a win.

Ahead of Leeds’ showdown with Bournemouth, Carragher has offered his prediction for what will pan out.

Jamie Carragher predicts Leeds changes vs Bournemouth

Wednesday’s clash with Bournemouth has been crammed in due to Leeds being in FA Cup semi-final action against Chelsea next weekend.

That will be the Whites’ first semi-final in the competition in almost 40 years, with that very much the priority this week.

That is not to say Farke is taking Premier League safety for granted, but the wins over Manchester United and Wolves mean Leeds are surely now safe.

And thanks to those results, the German can afford to rest a few key men against the Cherries should he wish.

Carragher expects that to be the case, as he predicted a 3-1 Bournemouth win for Sky Sports Super 6 and added: “Bournemouth will ease past Leeds and continue their incredible run, with the visitors potentially resting players for their trip to Wembley on Sunday.”

Should Carragher’s prediction come true, it’d be a first for Bournemouth this season as they have yet to beat one of the promoted clubs in five attempts.

Incredibly, the last Premier League side to fail to win all six games against the promoted clubs was Southampton in 2017-18.

Leeds are now eight points clear of the relegation zone.

Leeds drew 2-2 with Bournemouth in September’s reverse fixture after Eli Kroupi snatched a 93rd-minute equaliser at Elland Road.

Farke’s impressive record vs Bournemouth

That was one of three games Farke has managed against Bournemouth in the Premier League, with the German losing none of those.

He has won one and drawn two, making them one of only two teams – Brentford (W1 D2) being the other – Farke has not lost against in the Premier League.

Leeds would undoubtedly take a point at the Vitality Stadium if offered to them right now, with plenty of fans already having one eye on Wembley.

Bournemouth are on an incredible run, as Carragher pointed out, and avoided defeat will be a massive ask.

Thanks to recent results, though, there is next to no pressure on Farke’s men for this long midweek trek south.
