Injury and suspension latest as 15 players could miss out in Leeds United vs Norwich City

Leeds United are preparing for their FA Cup fifth-round clash with Norwich City on Sunday, with a number of players set to be absent at Elland Road.

The Whites made their way into the draw by securing a penalty shootout victory after a difficult afternoon against Birmingham City.

Lukas Nmecha’s strike was cancelled out at St Andrew’s before Sean Longstaff went on to net the winning spot-kick in front of the travelling supporters.

Daniel Farke is now waiting to welcome his former side to Elland Road with the hope of making it to the quarter-final of the world’s oldest cup competition.

Leeds face Norwich City at Elland Road with a chance to do exactly that as MOT Leeds News rounds up the injury latest from both sides.

Noah Okafor set to miss out again for Leeds

The LS11 outfit haven’t been in the greatest patch of form, having gone five games without a win in all competitions.

A penalty shootout win against Blues came after a draw within 120 minutes, meaning the last win came against Nottingham Forest at Elland Road.

There will be a desire to change that against the Canaries, but it looks unlikely that the Whites will have Noah Okafor available after he was forced off at St Andrew’s.

The Switzerland international continues to struggle with a thigh injury and looks more likely to return later in March.

That comes as a blow, but having just one absentee could prove to be a blessing for Farke and Co., ready for the FA Cup clash.

Incidentally, Farke will have to watch the game from the Elland Road stands as he serves a touchline ban.

As Keith Hackett exclusively told MOT Leeds News, Farke’s touchline ban sends out a message to other managers.

Philippe Clement faces Norwich injury crisis

If things are looking positive on the injury front for Leeds, the same certainly can’t be said for Norwich.

Philippe Clement has certainly turned things around at Carrow Road, but his squad is now seriously suffering on the injury front.

The Belgian could be without a whopping 14 players for the trip to Elland Road, with Mohamed Toure, Oscar Schwartau, Matej Jurasek, Jovon Makama, Papa Amadou Diallo, Harry Amass, Gabriel Forsyth, Mirko Topic, Ante Crnac,  Jeffrey Schlupp and Shane Duffy all expected to be out.

There is slightly more hope surrounding Lucien Mahovo, Forson Amankwah and Pelle Mattsson, but they are still said to be doubts for the Canaries.

It looks as if the Whites should be counting their lucky stars that their current situation is nothing like that of their upcoming opponents.
