Gabriel Gudmundsson electric, Sean Longstaff effective – Leeds United player ratings vs Norwich City

Leeds United saw the best of Gabriel Gundmundsson against Norwich City in the FA Cup on Sunday.

Philippe Clement’s team travelled to Elland Road on 8 March, with the Whites taking a two-goal lead into the break as they eventually secured a 3-0 victory and qualified for the competition’s quarter-final for the first time in 23 years.

Sean Longstaff and Gudmundsson scored for the West Yorkshire outfit in the opening 45 minutes and Joel Piroe capped off a magnificent individual display after finding the back of the net in the 85th minute.

Daniel Farke got the better of Clement from minute one, but many home supporters were expecting that despite the several changes to the starting lineup, as the Canaries are 17th in the Championship with significant fitness issues in their squad.

Gabriel Gudmundsson amazes with Leeds United display vs Norwich City

Gundmundsson got his first goal and assist for Leeds against Norwich as Farke’s team dominated the proceedings.

The Whites were dominant throughout the 90 minutes in LS11 and should’ve arguably scored more goals, having created several opportunities.

Gudmundsson has been key at Elland Road, quickly becoming one of the most important players for the West Yorkshire outfit since completing a move to the West Yorkshire outfit for around £10million from LOSC Lille last summer.

The 26-year-old left-back’s attacking threat is something Farke will look to bring out more in the upcoming matches following his electric display in bringing down the Canaries.

Sean Longstaff proves Daniel Farke right at Elland Road

Farke took a gamble by making several changes to Leeds’ starting lineup, with Longstaff one of the players given an opportunity.

It’s safe to say the German manager wasn’t left to rue his decision, with the former Newcastle United star paying him back with a brilliant goal.

The 28-year-old’s touch to bring the ball under control before his goal was technically world-class, highlighting the quality that the Peacocks have on the bench in the Premier League.

Longstaff also made some defensive interventions to stop Norwich from breaking, and the midfielder will be hoping his effective performance is rewarded in the upcoming matches.

Special mention must also be given to Piroe, who finally got his much-deserved first goal of the season for the Whites with a brilliant finish.
