Daniel Farke’s name surely already on POTM award as Leeds United boss earns nomination
Daniel Farke is a nominee for the Premier League’s Manager of the Month award for April alongside six other figures, but the Leeds United boss surely deserves this one.
The Whites had three Premier League games in April, and managed to pick up seven crucial points that may have cemented their place in the top-flight for the next campaign.
These seven points included a major win over Manchester United, which was the first time that Leeds had beaten the Red Devils at Old Trafford in the league for over 40 years.
Another win included a 3-0 thumping of Wolves, while the last-minute draw against Bournemouth left relegation rivals stumped once more.
Farke has orchestrated Leeds’ turnaround this season, and the award should already have his name on it.

Who is Daniel Farke’s competition for award?
Next up for Leeds is Burnley, and though the Clarets are already relegated, it will be a tough task for Farke to navigate through some injuries.
Not only that, but news on Thursday confirmed Scott Parker’s exit from Burnley, which means the Whites may have a different opponent than what they were planning for.
| Manager | Club | Opponents | Points |
| Daniel Farke | Leeds United | – Manchester United – Wolves – Bournemouth | 7 |
| Nuno Espirito Santo | West Ham United | – Wolves – Crystal Palace – Everton | 7 |
| Pep Guardiola | Manchester City | – Arsenal – Chelsea – Burnley | 9 |
| Fabian Hurzeler | Brighton | – Burnley – Tottenham – Chelsea | 7 |
| Andoni Iraola | Bounremouth | – Arsenal – Newcastle – Leeds | 7 |
| Vitor Pereira | Nottingham Forest | – Aston Villa – Burnley – Sunderland | 7 |
| Arne Slot | Liverpool | – Fulham – Everton – Crystal Palace | 9 |
As confirmed by the Premier League on Thursday, Farke has been nominated for the award along with six other Premier League managers.
Pep Guardiola is arguably the German head coach’s biggest competitor for the award, but even then, Manchester City beat Chelsea and Burnley, both of whom have now sacked their respective managers.
You could make a case for Andoni Iraola at Bournemouth, too, especially for the away win at Arsenal, but in the context of who has had the most important results partnered with the expectancy of getting wins, Farke is on top.
Noah Okafor also nominee for Player of the Month
Noah Okafor has also been named as a nominee for the Premier League’s Player of the Month award for April.
The Swiss forward grabbed four goal contributions in three games, being named as Player of the Match for his performance in the historic 2-1 win over Man United.
Okafor’s POTM competitors:
- Jarrod Bowen – West Ham
- Rayan Cherki – Manchester City
- Morgan Gibbs-White – Nottingham Forest
- Pascal Gross – Brighton
- Konstantinos Mavropanos – West Ham
- Nico O’Reilly – Manchester City
- Alex Scott – Bournemouth
While there are some good performers in the list, notably Rayan Cherki, Morgan Gibbs-White, and Alex Scott, Okafor’s displays have been on another level of brilliance and importance.
All things considered, this should be a double sweep for Leeds, and if Farke and Okafor do win these awards, let’s hope that the curse doesn’t follow them back to Elland Road with the trophies.
