Dan James’ race is run at Leeds, stats vs Brighton prove it
Dan James could be one of the first out of the door at Leeds United this summer.
Had it not been for James’ contributions in the Championship, there is every chance that the Whites would still be in there.
The Wales international scored 12 goals and registered nine assists in Leeds’ promotion campaign, showcasing his quality at that level, and not for the first time.
However, the 28-year-old, as he has done before, has struggled to adapt to life in the Premier League.
And after his performance in Leeds’ 1-0 win at home to Brighton, it seems as though his time here may be coming to an end.

Dan James struggles vs Brighton, but it’s not all his fault
Firstly, Daniel Farke’s decision to utilise James as a wing-back has been baffling, especially when taking into account his attacking numbers last season.
That is certainly one of the reasons behind his downfall in the top flight.
| Premier League | James |
| Games | 18 |
| Starts | 6 |
| Goals | 0 |
| Assists | 0 |
| Big chances created | 1 |
However, James has lacked the quality needed on the ball to be a success in the Premier League, and that was on show against the Seagulls.
James completed just four of his 12 attempted passes on Sunday, leaving him with a 33 per cent pass accuracy; the lowest of any player on the pitch.

He registered a zero per cent completion rate from four attempted crosses, while also seeing his two efforts in the game blocked with relative ease.
James no longer has the required quality to make a difference in the final third, and it is clear as day that he does not have the defensive capabilities to be moulded into a wing-back.
What’s next for James?
The former Man United winger still has three years on his Leeds contract come the end of the season, which may impact things.
Leeds will certainly want to sell if they opt to move him on, but whether clubs are willing to meet their asking price remains to be seen.
However, given what he has done every time he’s been in the Championship, there will certainly be suitors for him there, which may end up being his next move.
