Crystal Palace will fear the worst after personal Dominic Calvert-Lewin reveal at Leeds

Dominic Calvert-Lewin looks to have declared himself fit for Leeds United’s trip to Crystal Palace.

Palace would have been hopeful of the Whites’ top scorer missing out at Selhurst Park on Sunday, after he was absent for the FA Cup victory against Norwich City last time out.

The striker was left out of Daniel Farke’s squad entirely for the 3-0 win over the Championship side, and post-match, it was revealed he had suffered a minor knee injury.

That fuelled concerns that he was set for a spell on the treatment table, but now, supporters of the Yorkshire side can breathe a sigh of relief ahead of Leeds’ showdown in the capital.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin provides positive fitness update

Calvert-Lewin has been influential in the bid to beat the drop, bagging 10 top-flight goals despite being blunted by a scoring drought in recent weeks.

An impressive streak of seven goals in six matches during the winter period breathed new life into the campaign, and his side will be relying on him to rediscover his magic touch.

But with Lukas Nmecha and Joel Piroe ready to step up, Leeds supporters won’t have been too stressed over the possibility of Calvert-Lewin missing out again.

However, speaking ahead of the return to top-flight action, the No 9 insisted he was fit.

“Everything’s good,” Calvert-Lewin told CBS Sports. “It was always the plan for me to take a little break of a few days after the double gameweek we’ve just had in the Premier League.

“So yeah, everything’s going to plan. Back in training tomorrow and ready to go.”

That reassuring statement will likely strike fear into Palace hearts, which have been broken all too often by the former Everton man. After all, he simply loves scoring against them.

Calvert-Lewin’s impressive record vs Crystal Palace

Indeed, in his 14 career appearances against Palace in the Premier League, Calvert-Lewin has netted seven times and chalked up one assist – an impressive record.

He is a bad omen for the Eagles, having been on the winning side in the fixture eight times.

The fact that the ace has never actually lost against Palace in the top-flight bodes very well for Leeds, who will look to increase their three-point cushion over the relegation zone.

In the reverse fixture earlier this season, Calvert-Lewin hit a superb brace in a thumping 4-1 win. A similar scoreline on Sunday may well banish fears of the drop once and for all.
