Ally McCoist taken aback by Leeds United fans as ‘dominating’ decibel volume revealed vs Chelsea
Ally McCoist thought that Leeds United fans showed Chelsea supporters levels at Wembley during their FA Cup semi-final clash on Sunday.
The Whites packed out Wembley once again in hopes of securing their spot in the FA Cup final against Manchester City later in May.
Daniel Farke unsurprisingly named his strongest eleven possible, and even had the surprise inclusion of Anton Stach on the bench.
Leeds fans are known for making their presence felt wherever they go, and that was no different down in London.
McCoist thought Leeds supporters were on their A game, and was left stumped by a high recorded decibel level.

Ally McCoist reveals decibel levels over 100 in Leeds vs Chelsea
Stach’s return gave Leeds a pre-match boost, but both sides came into it ready to win, despite Chelsea’s recent woes under the now-sacked Liam Rosenior.
The TNT commentary team revealed that there were 34,000 Leeds fans at Wembley, who McCoist thought got the better of Chelsea supporters.
| Game | Result and competition | Date |
| Chelsea vs Leeds | 2-2 Draw – Premier League | Feb 10 2026 |
| Leeds vs Chelsea | 3-1 Win – Premier League | Dec 3 2025 |
| Chelsea vs Leeds | 3-2 Loss – FA Cup | Feb 28 2024 |
While speaking live on TNT Sports, McCoist said: “It’s just said there that it’s over 100 decibels, they [Leeds fans] are making some noise. It’s their first time here since the 80s or something. They are certainly looking forward to it.”
Unfortunately for the Whites, they were pegged back early by Enzo Fernandez’ header, as Callum McFarlane’s side looked the most dangerous side in the first half.
However, Farke will be hoping that his team can be helped by the thousands of Leeds fans in the stands during the second 45.
Leeds show levels amid empty Chelsea seats
Regardless of whether Leeds emerge victorious or not from this match, they have shown Chelsea fans levels.
Either way, the Whites look destined for Premier League survival, and BBC Sport reporter Nizaar Kinsella’s comments further proved the distinct difference between the two sets of supporters with his comments.
Kinsell said: “This is a celebration for Leeds supporters who have packed out their half of Wembley and are dominating this atmosphere. There are still empty seats in the Chelsea end, but we were told by the club that they sold out.”
- Chelsea had 67% possession in the first half
- Brenden Aaronson missed a big chance with 0.36 xG
Steven Gerrard pointed out that Leeds were being dominated on the field despite the difference in noise from the fans.
The former Liverpool star alluded to the midfield as being the key point of difference between the sides, and urged Farke to re-think his options at the break.
Let’s see if the German head coach does so, because some changes are clearly needed.
