Leeds United: It’s time to talk about Premier League relegation and where it may have gone wrong
Leeds United are really back into the thick of the Premier League relegation battle.
Let’s make one thing clear, though, we all would have taken being 15th and three points clear of the relegation zone with seven games to go back in August.
But, as Daniel Farke will know, it should have been so much better.
Leeds haven’t won since 6 February in the Premier League when they smashed Nottingham Forest 3-1 with relative ease at Elland Road.
Many, including myself, believed safety was more or less secured then, but the gap has continued to fall every single matchweek in LS11.

Where are Leeds United now?
Instead, Leeds have failed to win in their last six league games, only scoring three.
The Whites haven’t scored in the Premier League since their 1-1 draw at Aston Villa, with costly defeats to Sunderland and Manchester City in that run.
| Premier League | P | W | L | Goals |
| Leeds United | 6 | 0 | 2 | 3 |
With bore draws against Brentford and Crystal Palace also lodged in there, that may not be enough for Premier League safety now.
A trip to Old Trafford awaits on Monday evening, but if results go against them on Sunday with Tottenham and Nottingham Forest winning, they would only be one spot and one point above West Ham and the drop zone.
So, where have Leeds gone wrong?

Leeds United have favourable run-in, but memories haunt
Walking down to Elland Road on 18 April will be torture for many of us, and my nerves will be kicking off before play even gets underway against Wolves.
We’ve been here before, taking on Sunderland a matter of weeks ago without Brian Brobbey and Granit Xhaka on the bench, yet we threw it away.
Farke played Ilia Gruev alongside Ethan Ampadu and went far too defensive with only Brenden Aaronson alongside Dominic Calvert-Lewin, and it simply didn’t work in the 1-0 defeat.

Even going as far back as Burnley away in October, when Jack Harrison somehow started over the likes of Dan James and Lukas Nmecha, it was all wrong in another costly defeat.
They all stack up, and Farke can simply not afford to make mistakes in this final run-in.
Leeds still have Wolves, Burnley, West Ham and Tottenham all to play, so if they take care of their own business, they will stay in the Premier League.
But, with Joe Rodon and Anton Stach nursing serious injury blows, doubts are creeping in.
Writing off the trip to Old Trafford for now, three points against Wolves after that would set Leeds up perfectly for the final five games of the season.
It’s now or never for Leeds United, but relegation is now a real possibility more than ever.
